This is a song I can't get out of my head and have been playing non-stop (like Guster, 'Either Way', non-stop). It's by Marina & The Diamonds and is called 'I Am Not a Robot'. I just wanted to share.
"It’s okay to say you’ve got a weak spot
You don’t always have to be on top
Better to be hated than love, love, loved for what you’re not"

Decent song, freaky video.
I know "not being a robot" is a metaphor for something, but I have no idea what it is.
And what's so wrong with being a robot?

The song is about opening up, feeling alive, and showing emotion...the opposite of acting like a (stereotypical) robot.
"Can you teach me how to feel real?"
But if she needs to be taught how to feel, then she must not be feeling now.....meaning she IS a robot?
I don't think the song is about her. I think it's about a person she is trying to get to open up and be themselves.
The "I am not a robot" chorus seems to be almost like a mantra for this other person she is talking to, a 'repeat after me' type phrase.
Here's a link to the lyrics if you want to take a look: http://www.lyricsty.com/lyrics/m/marina_and_the_diamonds/i_am_not_a_robot.html
No me gusta.
Haha, all the switching between first and second person is confusing.
So the other person is a robot and she doesn't want him to be. Got it.
Although "I am not a robot" can't be a mantra for the other person to repeat. Exact repetition is robot behavior....
Is it ironic that the background music is synthesized by a computer?
Haha, a little.
