Week 6 Picks

I don't care, I'm going to vent. I HAVE THE MOST POINTS IN THE GODDAMN LEAGUE AND I DON'T HAVE ONE SINGLE WIN TO SHOW FOR IT!!! You must be loving this Adam and Kevin.

Breaking from football, did anyone notice on the Sportscenter rundown on Monday morning that the Shock highlights (their championship winning highlights) were mentioned with "Series Sweep" as the title? Very interesting...I wonder if ESPN purposely did this to keep viewers from turning away from women's basketball highlights. I'm thinking yes, because I was admittedly intrigued by what "Series Sweep" meant. Not the exact meaning, but who swept who...shut-up, you know what I'm talking about.

And congrats to Grace's Phillies. She is on cloud nine. It's funny when they play because she either can't watch the game at all, or when she does she is constantly chattering during it. I get another series of that against the Dodgers. My prediction? Phillies in three. That's right, in three. The Dodgers will forfeit the last because they'll be tired of getting their ass handed to them.

Back to football...congrats to MSU. #23!!! Hey, the wins haven't been pretty, but a win is a win. I have been happily able to watch every game but the first. Thank you, ESPN2.

Now to the picks...Updated Standings:
Mike: 50
Adam: 42
Kevin: 40

Go make those Week 6 picks!!!

Week 6 Picks:
Chicago over Atlanta
Houston over Miami
Baltimore over Indianapolis
Minnesota over Detroit
New Orleans over Oakland
Washington over St. Louis
New York over Cincinnati
Tampa Bay over Carolina
Denver over Jacksonville
Philadelphia over San Francisco
Dallas over Arizona
Green Bay over Seattle
San Diego over New England
New York over Cleveland

My upset: Baltimore over Indianapolis. Indianapolis cannot stop the run, and that's all that Baltimore will be doing. McGahee and LeRon McClain are a fantastic 1-2 punch and they'll get the rock all day. Remember what Chicago did against Indy Week 1? Yeah, same thing, but this time Indy doesn't have Bob Sanders...eek. Couple that with recent poor performances by Adaii against the Raven defense, which leaves it all on Manning. So yes, I'm betting against Peyton Manning. Hey, that lucky streak (Minnesota and Houston) has to run out sometime, right?

Fantasy Guys I Was Impressed With This Week:
QB- Carson Palmer. No, he didn't have a monster stat line, but the guy went into Dallas with a bum arm and almost led that team to win. In my opinion, Palmer deserved the win. If he just had some resemblence of a defense and a capable running game (why did they cut Rudi again), there definitely be some more wins coming the Bengals' way, because Palmer is the real deal. It was fun to watch him play yesterday.

RB- Clinton Portis. 145 against the leagues number one rushing defense. And on the road. Well done, sir. I give you props for carrying your team when they needed to be carried.

WR- Andre Johnson. In Grace's work league I just traded a bag of peanuts and a piece of shit to get him for her team. She was weak at wideout, and this guy is the real deal, despite his slow start...He played a ridiculously hard schedule, and all on the road for that matter. His next four are money in the bank, and Grace will happily enjoy all the benefits (and I suppose you too, Kev!), as the Texans schedule is soft, and mostly at home. Nice. Very nice.

TE- Chris Cooley. They blanketed Santana Moss so he stepped up and got Santana Moss numbers. Anytime you get WR numbers as a TE, I'm impressed.

Fantasy Guys I Like This Week: QB- Matt Schaub (Houston is hurting after that loss to Indy, and will be more focused than ever in their game against Miami), WR- Calvin Johnson (We haven't heard from him in a couple of weeks, and the Lions are against Minny, which means pass, pass, pass...and don't think I forgot what he did to Minny last year), RB- LeRon McClain (Watching him run over people is awesome. And he gets all the goal line carries. Fun player.), TE- Greg Olsen (I like Fasano again this week, but he burned me last week. Olsen against Atlanta is a good match-up, and he did pretty well against Detroit last week...although who didn't, really?

Last week I was 1 out of 4. Hit on Slaton, missed on Griese, Fasano, and Gonzalez. Picking sleepers is kind of hard. It's fun when you get them, but it doesn't happen too often.

And as a parting shot...Fuck you Donald Driver for doing jack shit for me, and then the minute I drop you because you've sucked and your quarterback has a semi-injured arm you go and get 70 and a touch. Just fuck you. Fuck you fuck you fuck you.

I am not revelling in your losses (except the one to me). I know how frustrating it can be to get a lot of points, but have the wrong matchups week after week. I swear, though, that it is a long season and there's still plenty of time to go.

"Series Sweep" was definitely to make you watch WNBA highlights. I think the saddest thing about the situation is that they had to play their home games @ EMU. Are the Shock that unimportant that they can't reserve the Palace through the playoffs? It's not like they've been to the championship each year for the past 3 years.

I am very excited about the baseball playoffs b/c I will be happy w/ the World Series no matter what. But sorry, I'm rooting for Manny vs. the Red Sox just to watch him get booed constantly.

It would make for some good television, for sure. That would be a nice consolation prize. I definitely want to see the Red Sox in it again, if only to validate my preseason pick in them to win the World Series.

It's hard to look long term in fantasy, at least now. I need to share some of your optimism though. I am happy I have lots of points, at least that makes me feel like my team isn't a failure. I'd definitely rather be on the perch up top with Kev and you.

I had no idea they played at EMU...are you serious??? That's so sad...they deserve better.

That's right, I'm picking against the Lions. And I will continue to pick against the Lions until they win two consecutive games.

Why were the Shock playing at EMU? Did the Palace still change its address?

WAIT! I want to change one of my picks - I think this should be allowed since I am changing it 1 min after I set them. I want to change it to:
NY Jets over Cincinnati
I just saw the headline "Sore elbow limits Bengals Palmer". Ryan Fitzpatrick could not beat the NYJ.

Can I get a ruling?

Mikey D said...

Change accepted.

I changed Green Bay over Seattle one minute after I posted this post, so fair is fair. We are posting so early in the week that I think we all should be allowed to change whenever we'd like, as long as we are not influenced by what others are picking. The honor system shall be used.
