I watched all 15 innings last night/this morning, and I have to say...
That was the BEST All-Star game in the history of MLB.
And, without a doubt, one of the ten best baseball games I have seen in my lifetime.
It was awesome, just awesome.

I agree it was awesome and you have to admit it is because home field advantage was on the line. If not, it would've ended in the 10th, you wouldn't have been wondering if they are going to start having infielders pitch, they don't steal as many bases, and you probably don't see as much effort as you did. I fell asleep in 13th or 14th.
My thoughts:
1. Did anyone else notice Willie Mays give Josh Hamilton the cold shoulder in the player intros or am I reading too much into it?
2. One team completely missing from the "old timers" intro: Boston Red Sox. Was that intentional? (Don't give me Boggs because he only had a Yankees cap).
3. I love awkwardness in Joe Buck's voice when he read the ad "Budweiser, the Great American Lager"
4. Who's my Tiger in 2009? Ben Sheets
5. Will NEVER live this night down: Dan Uggla
6. The bottom of the 10th (bases loaded w/ no outs ends in 0 runs scored) was the best defensive effort I can recall and proves the NL's talent is defense and pitching while the AL's is hitting (ok, rip me apart for that comment beginning... now).
7. Terry Francona makes up for Papelbon's lack of class and then some.
8. I saw at least 3 blown calls on the bags.
9. I love that I just took over Mike's blog with a comment longer than his post.
Oh, I agree completely. Bud Selig even said so later on. He said without playing for something, players would have packed it in during the 3rd inning, like they used to.
1. Grace and I both noticed Willie Mays looking pissed as hell. We thought it might be because of the way Bonds has been treated...
2. I didn't even notice the lack of Red Sox! But now that you mention it, I think it was intentional. They would have been booed hardcore.
3. I hate Joe Buck. Period. Remember when he got kicked off Fox NFL Sunday because he sucked? That needs to happen in baseball now. He is the worst in my opinion.
4. Ben Sheets is great...when he's not hurt. I don't want the Tigers throwing shit tons of money at a guy who will be hurt again. I would take Sabathia over him, even though I think Sheets is the better pitcher. Sabathia is just more reliable.
5. Poor Dan Uggla. In his defense, some of the balls that were hit at him were tough to get. Hard hit, he was ranging, bad hops, etc. Still, throw in 3 Ks and double play...and yeah, you'll never forget that night. At least he didn't cost the NL the game in the end.
6. Aaron Cook. I was rooting for the AL, but man, that guy deserves all the credit in the world. Him and George Sherrill were saviors.
7. I will let Terry Francona be my manager any day. I love that guy now.
8. I did too! But I don't blame the umps. It's hard when the glove is there before the guy and everything is happening so fast. Tell me, Navarro at home with Martin blocking...was Navarro safe??? Looking at replays, I thought he got underneath Martin's leg...
9. It's fine. I'm glad you commented, I didn't know if you'd watch the game that much! I figured after the first 5 innings you'd turn it off, as it was a pitchers duel and not that much action (which I love, by the way. Give me a well pitched game over an offensive onslaught anyday).
Other thoughts:
-Poor Brad Lidge. They said he threw 100+ pitches during his 6 warm-ups. No wonder he was spent by the time he made it into the game.
-Drew would have pitched for the AL, and Wright for the NL. I would have LOVED to have seen that!
-Wagner is the goat for the NL in my opinion.
-Webb pitched one inning and K'd two. Not bad for a guy who was supposed to be exhausted from his start Sunday and not expected to play.
-I loved the mob scene at home plate at the end. I just like seeing the team together. White Sox, Tigers and Twins hugging, Yankees and Red Sox slapping Rays and Rangers...I don't know, it's just cool.
