So I'll admitt, I'm not the biggest opera fan. In fact, I have no opera music on my computer...until now. His name is Paul Potts, and he was on the British reality show, "Britain's Got Talent". He came onto the show and looked less than an average joe. A pudgy car phone salesman with jacked up English teeth...and his voice is just amazing.
If you haven't seen this, check it out:
So now I've gotten into a little opera. I've probably listened to more opera in the past week than I have in my entire life. And you know what? I like it.

I have only seen two operas in my life: Phantom of the Opera and Carmen.
I do like the majority of the songs from those two, but wouldn't call myself a fan of the shows. I prefer the music as a stand-alone.
As for Paul Potts, it's easy to recognize that he is a gifted singer. But I choose opera music like I choose classical music, by composer rather than performer. So if he's singing a song I'm looking for, I'd be more than happy to listen, but I'm not going to specifically look for his performances.
Really? I think that's so different than the norm.
Let's say I take the song, "Behind Blue Eyes". You love the song. It has been, however, covered a bazillion times.
You're telling me that the artist who is singing it doesn't matter because you like the song itself?
And by that token, how do you ever discover new talent? I mean, it's great to have favorites, but there's no thought to expanding the horizons?
Anyway, I too like opera as a stand alone. I have downloaded a bunch from other opera singers and have enjoyed it all really, without choosing a favorite really. I don't think I know enough about the genre to be able to consider one better than the other. They all sound pretty good to me right now.
He has ridiculously f’ed up teeth. Look at the 1:57 mark – you can totally see her o face.
I do like opera music, although I don't have any personally. By the way, I love that you got Kevin to watch a kind-of-reality-tv show.
Hahaha, she does have an o face! That's great.
