Guster- Initial Thoughts

One morning and one late afternoon car ride, and I've gotten through the new album a couple times.

~I've come to accept the fact that the band has evolved from their "Lost and Gone Forever" sound and are probably not going back to it. But "Ganging up on the Sun" four years ago was not very good. If they are going to stick with their "new" sound, well it better sound good. This album sounds good.

~My favorite track by far is "Stay With Me Jesus". Awesome track. Ryan's voice sounds uniquely different.

~"Architects & Engineers", "This is How it Feels to Have a Broken Heart", and "Do What You Want" all appeal to me.

~There wasn't a single track I felt like skipping on my iPod.

~There were numerous tracks that I said, "This would be awesome played live..."

~The album might eventually pass my love for "Keep it Together". Nothing touches the really old stuff, though.

~The lyrics may not be the most upbeat, but the music just feels happy. It puts me in a good mood.

Me Gusta Guster.

I haven't really listened to the album yet.

Nothing will ever be as good as the old stuff, but if this is better than "Keep it Together" than I will be very happy.
