I'm so happy to be making this post! It's April 1st, and MSU is still playing ball. As exciting as this run is, and whatever outcome occurs this weekend, do take a step back and realize that right now (and by right now, I mean the last fifteen years) we are in the "glory" years of Spartan hoops. 6 Final Fours in 12 years? That's just remarkable.
And let's make it two National Championship games in a row! Come on, boys! Let's do this!

You are completely right - we really are in the "glory" years. I hadn't thought about that before.
I am still upset about the whole Oregon thing and Izzo's reaction (it wasn't "no, I'm not interested" it was "I love my team"). I thought of the perfect example. In Columbus, we have a successful coach who is from the area and almost "represents the state" in Jim Tressel. People locally and nationally would LAUGH if any team, such as Mississippi State, came out and said they were going to offer Tressel a contract. And that doesn't happen to us. Isn't MSU Basketball on the same level as OSU Football??? At least right now???
Boy, that's tough to compare. OSU football seems to capture the entire state of Ohio 24/7/365 a year. I'm not sure we can say the same about State. It's probably pretty close to being equal at this moment in time, though.
I was upset just like you, but I think that's just how Izzo is. He doesn't want to be disrespectful or act like he's too big for any job. To throw the Oregon job back in their faces the same day the story broke...I'm sure he was uncomfortable with that (especially with his ties to Nike).
But there have been a lot of comments Izzo has made since, like how he wants to be the coach of State, "for as long as they want me". He's even joked around with the players about the whole situation.
I think if Izzo ever goes, it's to try the NBA, not to another college. But I still struggle seeing him ever leave the program he's built at State.
